Avoid it, do not travel on it; turn from it and go on your way. For they cannot rest until they do evil; Proverbs 4:14-16a Key Verse: Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm. Proverbs 13:20 When you give something proximity, you give it permission. Key Verse: Then you will understand what is right, just, and fair, and you will find the right way to go. For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will fill you with joy. Wise choices will watch over you. Understanding will keep you safe. Proverbs 2:9 Cost of walking through the wrong door: 1. It costs time Key Verse: Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom. Psalm 90:12 Cost of walking through the wrong door: 2. It creates trauma Key Passage: Then they (Paul and Silas) went from town to town, instructing the believers… So the churches were strengthened in their faith and grew larger every day. Next Paul and Silas traveled through the area of Phrygia and Galatia, because the Holy Spirit had prevented them from preaching the word in the province of Asia at that time. Then coming to the borders of Mysia, they headed north for the province of Bithynia, but again the Spirit of Jesus did not allow them to go there. So instead, they went on through Mysia to the seaport of Troas. That night Paul had a vision: A man from Macedonia in northern Greece was standing there, pleading with him, “Come over to Macedonia and help us!” So we decided to leave for Macedonia at once, having concluded that God was calling us to preach the Good News there. Acts 16:4a, 5-10 It doesn’t just take faith to walk through some doors. It takes faith to walk away from some doors. Desperation destroys discernment. How do I discern a good door from a God door? 1. I need clarity of vision. How do I discern a good door from a God door? 2. I must stay committed to my values and standards. How do I discern a good door from a God door? 3. I must be ready for and listen to the Holy Spirit’s voice and guidance. Key Verse: What He opens no one can shut, and what He shuts no one can open. Revelation 3:7b (NIV) Discussion Questions 1.
