 • Series: Help! My Personality Is Showing

1-16-22 Set List: Rattle! Jireh God I Look To You Too Good To Not Believe Sermon Notes: Galatians 5:22-23 NLT But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things! 3 Characteristics of Fruit: • Fruit is something that grows on a tree. • Fruit is something that is given away. • Fruit is something that has seeds for reproduction. John 15:1,4-8 I am the true vine, and My Father is the gardener… Remain in Me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in Me. “Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in Me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from Me you can do nothing. Anyone who does not remain in Me is thrown away like a useless branch and withers. Such branches are gathered into a pile to be burned. But if you remain in Me and My words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted! When you produce much fruit, you are My true disciples. Galatians 5:22-23 But what happens when we live God’s way? He brings fruit into our lives, much the same way that fruit appears in an orchard—things like affection for others, exuberance about life, serenity. We develop a willingness to stick with things, a sense of compassion in the heart, and a conviction that a basic holiness permeates things and people. We find ourselves involved in loyal commitments, not needing to force our way in life, able to marshal and direct our energies wisely. How do we produce more of this type of fruit in our lives? • Connection to the Holy Spirit. • Cooperation with the Holy Spirit. • Cultivate the Fruit of the Holy Spirit "There is a big difference between training to do something and trying to do something." "Growing more fruit of the Spirit is not just a matter of trying harder, but of training wisely." 1 Corinthians 9:25 Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. 1 Corinthians 9:27b …training it (my body) to do what it should, not what it wants to. Otherwise I fear that after enlisting others for the race, I myself might be declared unfit and ordered to stand aside. Discussion Questions: 1. What do you feel like God is saying to you through this message? 2. What are some changes you want to see this week given what God is saying to you?
