Ephesians 6:12 Key Verse: So to keep me from becoming proud, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger from Satan to torment me and keep me from becoming proud. 2 Corinthians 12:7 Three Common but Unhealthy Ways We Respond to Rejection: 1. We avoid the risk of rejection. 2. Anger and Aggression. 3. Being overly sensitive to rejections and overly dependable on the approval and acceptance of others. How to Overcome Rejection 1. Base your life on God’s perfect love and what God’s word has to say about you. Key Passage: Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me. Hebrews 13:5-6 (KJV) How to Overcome Rejection 2. Pursue relationships with fellow believers. Key Verse: A friend is always loyal, and a brother is born to help in time of need. Proverbs 17:17 How to Overcome Rejection 3. Accept rejection and don’t take it personal. Key Verse: God blesses you who are hated and excluded and mocked and cursed because you are identified with me, the Son of Man. Luke 6:22 How to Overcome Rejection 4. Forgive those that reject you and offer them Christ’s love. Key Passage: "But if you are willing to listen, I say, love your enemies. Do good to those who hate you. Pray for the happiness of those who curse you. Pray for those who hurt you. If someone slaps you on one cheek, turn the other cheek. If someone demands your coat, offer your shirt also. Give what you have to anyone who asks you for it; and when things are taken away from you, don't try to get them back. Do for others as you would like them to do for you. Luke 6:27-31 How to Overcome Rejection 5. Ask for Help. Discussion Questions: 1. What do you feel like God is saying to you through this message? 2.
